LONDON — More than 58.5 million (58,547,558) people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,387,443 have died. Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

In Paris, the number of new coronavirus infections in France rose by 17,881 on Saturday, lower than the 22,882 reported on Friday. The Health Ministry also reported 276 new deaths from the virus in hospitals over 24 hours, against 386 on Friday, Reuters reported.

In Berlin, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Germany increased by 15,741 to 918,269, data from the Robert Koch Institute for infectious diseases showed on Sunday. The reported death toll rose by 138 to 14,022, the tally showed.

In Moscow, Russia on Sunday reported a daily increase of 24,581 new coronavirus infections, taking the national tally to 2,089,329, according to Reuters. Authorities also reported 401 coronavirus-related deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the official death toll to 36,179.

In Brussels, total infections of coronavirus cases in Belgium on Sunday increased to 556,904 with 3,224 new infections reported by Belgian health authorities. They said, 170 more deaths from COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours raising the total death toll to 15,522.

In New Delhi, India announced on Sunday that 501 people died due to COVID-19 while 45,209 fresh cases were registered from across the country in a span of 24 hours. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that total deaths due to the coronavirus rose to 133,227 while the total number of positive cases surged to 9,095,806. According to the ministry, 8,521,617 people recovered from the pandemic.

In Cairo, Egypt announced that it has reported 358 new coronavirus COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths Sunday. In a press release, the spokesman of the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Khalid Mujahid said that the total confirmed cases in the country reached 112,676.

He added that, with 14 deaths Sunday, the total number of death tally goes to 6,535. Mujahid said 98 have recovered from the disease, increasing the number of recoveries to 1,010,783. — Agencies
