UNA, Petra to hold workshop on translation of news articles

JEDDAH — The Union of Organization of Islamic Cooperation News Agencies (UNA), in cooperation with Jordan News Agency (Petra), will hold a virtual workshop on the translation of news articles from Arabic into English on Monday.

The workshop aims to provide media professionals, who are employees of news agencies that are members of UNA, with advanced skills in professional translation of news articles.

This workshop is part of the outcomes of the media forum of UNA entitled "The Role of News Agencies in Supporting Efforts to Confront Coronavirus Pandemic", which was held on May, 16, 2020, under the patronage of Acting Minister of Media in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, chairman of the Executive Council of the Union Dr. Majid Bin Abdullah Al Qasabi.

The forum also witnessed the launch of the Union of OIC News Agencies program, which targets developing the capabilities of more than 2,200 media personnel in the OIC countries. — SPA
