Interior ministry outlines fines for violation of coronavirus regulation on gatherings

RIYADH — The Interior Ministry has confirmed on Saturday that the attendance or invitation to non-family gatherings of more than 50 people in one or limited space is a violation of the coronavirus regulation.

The ministry further said that any gathering inside homes, rest houses, farms, camps, chalets, or open areas of more than 50 in one or limited space will invite a fine of SR15,000 for the facility and the official, and SR5,000 for attendees and invitees.

If the violation is repeated, the facility and the official will be slapped with a fine of SR30,000 while attendees and invitees will have to shell out SR10,000.

The ministry added that if the violation is committed for the third time by the facility and the official, the fine will be doubled and the official will be referred to the Public Prosecution and attendees and invitees too will be prosecuted.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior indicated that if the facility belongs to the private sector and the violation is committed for the first time, it will be closed for a period of three months, and if it is repeated, the facility will be closed for six months.
