Gulf states seek to create unified upper airspace

RIYADH — A joint working team, representing the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, is carrying out studies about establishing a unified upper airspace for the member states. The panel is examining various aspects of all matters related to it, according to a statement issued by the GCC General Secretariat.

Representatives of the GCC member states attended the fourth virtual meeting of the working group on Wednesday.

A number of technical matters related to the study were discussed, and these included the technical and operational priorities to support the partial application of the study prior to reaching its full implementation, the requirements for automatic linking between the air navigation systems in the GCC countries, and what has been done regarding the application of the handling of aviation plans system and other topics.

The recommendations of the meeting will be submitted to the 17th meeting of the Air Navigation Commission to take decision that it deems necessary, the statement added.
