RIYADH — The Arab Coalition forces have intercepted and destroyed on Sunday 2 additional bomb-laden drones in Yemeni airspace launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militias, targeting Saudi Arabia, the Coalition’s spokesperson Brig. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said.
In a statement on Sunday carried by the Saudi Press Agency, Brig. Gen. Al-Maliki said: “Joint Coalition Forces have intercepted and destroyed this evening (Sunday) (2) additional bomb-laden UAVs.
“A total of (4) bomb-laden UAVs launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects in the Southern Region have been destroyed today (Sunday).
“The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will continue to undertake all necessary procedures to neutralize and destroy the Advanced Conventional Weapons capabilities of the terrorist militia in accordance with the customary International Humanitarian Law.”
Brig. Gen. Al-Maliki had said earlier in the morning: “The Joint Coalition forces intercepted and destroyed this morning (Sunday) a bomb-laden UAV launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects in (Southern Region).”
GCC denounces the launching
of UAVs towards Kingdom
Meanwhile, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf Sunday denounced the launching of bomb-laden UAVs towards the Kingdom by Houthi militia.
In a statement, Dr. Al-Hajraf said the repetition of such terrorist attempts carried out by the Houthi militias reflects a flagrant challenge to the world community and unrespect to all international laws and norms, a matter that necessitates that the world community should take an immediate and firm position to stop such repeated terrorist acts targeting vital and civilian facilities.
He lauded the vigilance and efficiency of the Coalition Forces to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, citing their success in facing all terrorist attempts carried out by the Houthi militias, confirming the solidarity and stance of the GCC with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in whatever measures it takes to defend its territories and preserve the safety of its citizens and residents on its territories.

Meanwhile, Arab Parliament Speaker Adel Bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi has condemned the terrorist Houthi militia's launching of bomb-laden UAVs towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that the Forces of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen managed to intercept and destroy, stressing that compromising Saudi Arabia’s security is considered as a threat to the Arab national security.
In a statement issued Sunday, he affirmed that these repeated terrorist attacks, targeting innocent civilians and civilian objects that are protected by the international law constitute war crimes according to the international humanitarian law, as they also reflect flagrant denial of the international community and disregarding all international laws and agreements that guarantee protection for civilians.
He stressed that these repeated terrorist attacks require urgent international action against the terrorist Houthi militia and the Iranian regime that supports it with money and weapons.
Al-Asoumi commended the vigilance of the Forces of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen that have managed to successfully confront and thwart these terrorist acts, reaffirming the Arab Parliament's full support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to preserve its security and stability. — SPA
