NEW YORK — The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, welcomed the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to end the Yemeni crisis, and its commitment to the legitimate Yemeni government to cease fire in Yemen.

This came during a phone call Monday with the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah Bin Yahya Al-Mouallimi.

During the call, Guterres affirmed his support for the Kingdom's initiative and reaching a comprehensive political solution, stating that this initiative is in line with the United Nations' initiatives and efforts in this regard.

The United Nations too, earlier welcomed Saudi Arabia initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and reach a comprehensive political solution.

In the daily press briefing, UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq confirmed that this effort is in line with the initiatives of the United Nations, welcoming the Kingdom's support for the United Nations efforts.

Farhan Haq said that the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths is working to secure a nationwide ceasefire in Yemen, reopen Sanaa Airport to civilians and air navigation, allow more fuel and goods to enter Hodeidah port, and resume the political process to end the conflict.

He stressed the need to exert all efforts to end the conflict in Yemen and address the suffering of the Yemeni people, stressing the aspiration of the United Nations to continue its work with the parties to achieve this goal.

In Washington, the United States of America welcomed Saudi Arabia's initiative to end Yemeni crisis, and its commitment to the legitimate Yemeni government to a comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen under the UN supervision.

Deputy Spokesperson at the US Department of State Jalina Porter affirmed that the United States welcome the resumption of the political process in Yemen, calling on all parties to commit seriously to a ceasefire immediately and engage in negotiations under the auspices of the UN.

In Brussels, the European Union too has welcomed Saudi Arabia's initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and reach a comprehensive political solution.

Spokesperson for the External Affairs of the EU in Brussels Peter Stano said in a statement on Monday that the Union highlights the importance of the initiative as a positive step towards peace, noting that the European Union encourages all parties to cooperate with the UN Special Envoy to immediately announce a ceasefire and launch a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the UN.

Stano also renewed the European Union’s stance that reaching a comprehensive political agreement is still the only solution to end the crisis in Yemen.

In Cairo, the Arab Parliament welcomed Saudi Arabia's initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and reach a comprehensive political solution, praising the efforts made by the Kingdom under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince.

In a statement issued today, the Arab Parliament President Adel Bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi said that this initiative reflects the pioneering role of Saudi Arabia and its continued efforts to restore security and stability in the region and alleviate the daily suffering of the Yemeni people. He pointed out that this initiative is a valuable opportunity to reach a final and comprehensive solution to the Yemeni crisis.

In Muscat, the Sultanate of Oman welcomed Saudi Arabia's initiative to reach a political solution to the crisis in the Republic of Yemen.

The Sultanate affirmed that it will continue to work with the Kingdom, the United Nations and Yemeni parties in order to achieve the desired political settlement that will restore security and stability to Yemen and preserve the security and interests of the countries of the region.

In Khartoum, Sudan welcomed Saudi Arabia's initiative to end Yemeni crisis by declaring ceasefire under the supervision of the United Nations.

In a statement issued Monday, the Sudanese Foreign Ministry affirmed Sudan's support to the initiative that reflects the Kingdom's keenness to preserve the stability in Yemen and region.

Sudan urged the international community to support the Saudi initiative, expressing its hope that the Yemeni parties will positively respond to the initiative in order to reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen.

In Riyadh, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) welcomed the initiative announced by Saudi Arabia to end the crisis in Yemen and reach a comprehensive political agreement, including a comprehensive ceasefire, under the supervision of the United Nations.

The KSrelief called on the Yemeni parties to respond positively to the initiative to overcome the current political and humanitarian situation and give priority to the interests of the Yemeni people.

The KSrelief also called on the international community to adopt and support the initiative to save Yemen and to alleviate the human suffering of the Yemeni people, to engage in the peace process, based on the three references, the GCC Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue, and Security Council Resolution 2216.

The center appreciated role and efforts of the Kingdom to support Yemen's security and stability, and the great support for humanitarian action and maintaining international peace and security in the region.

Meanwhile, the Republic of Djibouti welcomed Saudi Arabia's initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and reach a comprehensive political solution, expressing its hope that the Yemeni parties will positively respond to the initiative that reflects the Kingdom's endeavors to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people according to the three references.

Ambassador of Djibouti, who is also Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in the Kingdom, Dya-Eddine Said Bamakhrama urged the international community to support Saudi Arabia's initiative, lauding the pioneering role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to preserve the security in the region, to restore security and stability in Yemen and to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. — SPA
