Single-day COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia top 1,000 for first time in many months

RIYADH — Single-day coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia breached the 1,000-mark on Tuesday for the first time in many months, with 1,070 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, 12 more died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the deadly virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 407,010 and the virus-related fatalities to 6,846.

The ministry also reported 940 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 390,538.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 483 followed by the Makkah region with 209 and the Eastern region with 157 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 9,626 active cases and 1,105 of them were in critical condition.
