COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia surge past 1,000 again as deaths remain in single digit

JEDDAH — Single-day coronavirus cases surged past the 1,000-mark once again on Tuesday with 1,045 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry announced 9 more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the deadly virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 414,219 and the virus-related fatalities to 6,922.

The ministry also reported 983 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 397,587.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 419 followed by the Makkah region with 221 and the Eastern region with 155 infections. The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom.

According to the ministry, there were 9,710 active cases and 1,277 of them were in critical condition.
