Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al-Zayani held talks on Friday with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad Al-Maliki over the telephone, Bahrain News Agency reported.

They discussed the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the Gaza Strip, ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination between both countries, and supporting the international efforts aimed at maintaining security and stability in the region, intensifying efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip.

The call also focused on continuing efforts to revive the peace process in the Middle East to reach lasting peace based on the recognition of the Palestinian people’s rights to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the principle of the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative, and in accordance with the relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
