OIC chief congratulates UAE, Gabon and Albania on winning UNSC seats

JEDDAH/CAIRO — Dr. Yousef Bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), expressed his congratulations to the OIC member states, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Gabon and the Republic of Albania, on the occasion of winning seats at UN Security Council for 2022-2023.

In a statement, the OIC Secretary General pointed out that the member states' winning of seats at the UN Security Council is a diplomatic achievement that reflects their role in consolidating international peace and efforts to establish security and peace in the world in addition to highlighting the Islamic tolerant values which call for dialogue, coexistence and peace as well as the rejection of terrorism, violence and extremism.

Meanwhile, Adel Abdulrahman Al-Asoomi, speaker for the Arab Parliament, has congratulated the leadership and government of the United Arab Emirates on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2022-2023.

In a statement, Al-Asoomi expressed his strong belief in the ability of the UAE to contribute to solving the significant challenges facing the region, wishing the nation success in performing this task for the higher good of all Arab countries. — SPA
