Presidency prepared to receive 70,000 Umrah pilgrims daily at Grand Mosque

MAKKAH — The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has completed all preparations to receive Umrah performers after increasing the capacity to 70,000 per day, under close follow-up from the President of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais.

The Presidency Spokesperson Hani Haidar said that this number of Umrah performers would be handled with full application of preventive measures and intensified sterilization, with the Presidency keen on adopting an integrated structure of services without affecting the implementation of COVID-19 precautionary measures.

He also pointed out that several services has been provided by the Presidency in conjunction with the start of the current phase, including developing thermal cameras and visual sorting operations, supporting sterilization processes with 11 robots that work with artificial intelligence, 20 bio-care devices for sterilization with dry steam, and 500 sterilization pumps.

This is in addition to providing 500 electronic soap dispensers and 250 fans distributed throughout the Grand Mosque's courtyards.

The spokesperson stressed that the Presidency has also increased the production capacity of Zamzam water to more than 300,000 bottles per day, which are distributed to Umrah performers and worshippers. — SPA
