RIYADH — Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) and King Salman International Complex for Arabic Language have signed a memorandum of understanding to enrich the Arabic content in the data and AI fields and support research, application and capabilities relevant to AI and the Arabic language.
The MoU was co-signed by CEO of the National Center for AI Dr. Majed Bin Mohammad Al-Tuwaijri, on behalf of SDAIA, and King Salman International Complex for Arabic Language acting Secretary General Dr. Abdullah Bin Saleh Al-Washmi.
The memorandum aims at developing a general framework for cooperation activities between the Authority and Complex in joint fields, where both sides will cooperate in several projects, including: dictionaries and thesauruses, and conducting scientific research on the uses of data and AI to serve the Arabic language and its applications.
The deal also includes joint action to develop innovative applications with the use of data technologies and AI to support the Arabic language, develop capabilities through cooperation in organizing events and tournaments on developing AI solutions in the Arabic language, such as hackathon, periodic meetings, and open-sources programs
This is in addition to cooperation to build comprehensive databases for the Arabic language, its applications, tools and semantic indications, means to develop it technologically, and work to establish an AI center specialized in the Arabic language and developing it through cooperating in building ideas and envisions that can contribute to supporting the complex’s efforts in establishing this center. — SPA
