MADINAH — Four people were killed and five others injured in a horrific road accident involving several vehicles in Madinah on Wednesday.

The collision of a truck with several vehicles happened at 1 p.m. at the traffic signal at the intersection of King Abdullah Road with Ali Bin Abi Talib Road in the city.

Sources at the Ministry of Transport and Logistics told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the preliminary investigations of the security authorities showed that the accident was caused by the brake failure of a truck.

Following the brake failure, the driver, subsequently lost control, and that resulted in its collision with a number of cars stopped at the traffic signal.

The traffic police and Civil Defense teams rushed to the scene and transported the injured to the hospital.

The vehicles involved in the collision were removed to restore traffic movement at the intersection where the traffic signal is equipped with automatic surveillance cameras, the sources said.
