MUNICH — Officials at Munich airport have found 1.2 tons of khat, a plant that contains a stimulant banned in Germany, a customs spokesman reported on Tuesday.

The khat leaves were found on Thursday last week in a consignment labeled "table decorations." It was loaded in Dubai for dispatch to the United States, according to Deutsche Press Agency (DPA).

"This is the largest quantity of khat found in the existence of Munich Airport," customs spokesman Thomas Meister said.
