RIYADH — Severe cold wave has been sweeping currently some regions of Saudi Arabia and temperatures could reach zero level in the capital city of Riyadh within the coming few days, according to forecast of the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).
Freezing temperatures are being experienced in Turaif governorate in the Northern Border Region as well as in Tabuk, Arar, Rafha, Shaqraa and other cities and governorates of the northern regions.
Attending YaHala Show of Rotana Khalijia Television, Hussain Al-Qahtani, spokesman of NCM, said that the cold snap that is being experienced at present in the Kingdom is the strongest one.
The Kingdom is still in the first third of the winter season, he said, while expecting that the northern, central and eastern regions will be affected by the cold air mass currently being experienced in the Kingdom.
Al-Qahtani said that temperatures in Riyadh are expected to reach zero degrees Celsius in the coming days, and temperatures will drop further in the southern regions.
He said that the possibility of rain showers would continue in the Eastern Province as well as in Riyadh. The spokesman also indicated the possibility of snow falling on the highlands of northern regions and Hail during the coming period.
