ALULA —The Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate (RCU) recently launched the third phase of the AlUla Scholarship Program in a ceremony held at the Taibah University branch in AlUla.
The program announced earlier that 300 students got accepted in diploma, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.
The students are going to study disciplines that meet the vision and objectives of the authority in developing the governorate, such as tourism, hospitality, agriculture, history, archeology, arts, museums, environmental sciences, design, urban planning and management facilities, services and communication management, at a number of prestigious universities in the United Kingdom, the United States, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany and Italy.
Starting from Feb. 6, accepted students are subject to a preparatory program of 6 to 8 months at AlUla Language Institute, which includes an intensive language learning program, in addition to workshops aimed at developing the necessary skills that help them to adapt in the scholarship country.
This way, they will additionally have the opportunity to communicate with students who have returned from previous scholarships to benefit from their experiences.
AlUla scholarship program is aimed at developing capabilities and making leaders even before traveling to the scholarship destination and during the academic study. It supports them during training until obtaining professional certificates after completing the study.
The scholarship countries were selected based on the best colleges globally in the targeted disciplines.
The Chief Economic and Social Development Officer at the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate, Mohamed Alshamari, said: “The authority is keen to involve the sons and daughters of the homeland in AlUla, as they are an important part of the development process.”
“The authority is always keen to invest in human capital to achieve sustainable growth that would stimulate innovation in business, in addition to creating different experiences for the people of the province to be active partners in shaping the future of AlUla.”
The program announced the registration of 168 male and female students in the first phase in 2018, and 292 students in the second phase (2019), bringing the total number of students participating in the three phases of the program to 791.
