RIYADH — Health Minister Fahad Bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajil received a congratulatory letter from the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's success in totally eliminating Trachoma.
He also received a similar letter approving the Healthy Cities Program in its capacity as a cooperating center with the organization.
This achievement stems from the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince, as well as the Minister of Health’s efforts to keep pace with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Following the completion of all the requirements set by WHO, the Ministry seeks to eradicate epidemics to meet its set strategies to reach an absolute healthy society.
The Kingdom had launched the Trachoma-free project in 2019, including all health facilities and relevant authorities across the Kingdom.
At the time, all research related to the history of Trachoma disease in the Kingdom had been put under study for more than 40 years. — SPA
