RIYADH — In-person classes for all levels of school education, including kindergartens, will be resumed with the beginning of the third semester of the current academic year, the Ministry of Education has announced on Monday.
The precautionary measure of social distancing among students in classrooms and prayer halls as well as during co-curricular activities will be abolished while morning assembly sessions will be reinstated. These directives are contained in the updated preventive guidelines issued recently by the ministry with regard to coronavirus precautionary measures and preventive protocols.
The ministry has directed all the education departments in the regions and governorates across the Kingdom to implement the updated preventive guideline recently approved by the Public Health Authority (Weqaya) with regard to return to school by boy and girl students under the age of 12 in the third semester of the current year.
It was stated in the updated guide that in-person classes will resume for all students in the elementary classes and kindergarten with the beginning of the third semester.
The ministry also instructed implementation of the guideline updated by Weqaya for students above the age of 12. The ministry has also cancelled the operational models that had been approved by the ministry for the first and second semesters.
