ACN launched to enhance communication, cooperation regarding competition protection

CAIRO — The Arab League, in cooperation with Egyptian Competition Authority, launched Wednesday the Arab Competition Network (ACN), during the first conference of the Arab Competition Network that is organized by the Arab League.

The event saw the participation of heads and representatives of competition authorities in the Arab countries and representatives of international organizations in the field of competition protection.

CEO of the General Authority for Competition Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Al-Zoom headed Saudi Arabia’s delegation to the conference.

The first conference of the Arab Competition Network, over two days, will witness several sessions on the latest developments on competition policies and laws, reviewing the vision of international organizations to enhance competition in the Arab region, and Arab experiences in the field of prior monitoring of competition on merger and acquisition processes.

Dr. Al-Zoom said that the first conference of the Arab Competition Network is a opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss the challenges facing the Arab countries in the field of competition and combating monopolistic practices.

In his speech during the activities of the first conference, Dr. Al-Zoom said that the efforts of Saudi Arabia in the field of competition development during the past few years, represented by the General Authority for Competition, covered several organizational, institutional and awareness aspects, including the new competition law and its executive regulations.

He praised the support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince for the General Authority for Competition during the previous years. — SPA
