UK group resignations shake Johnson's cabinet

July 06, 2022

LONDON — The cabinet of Prime Minister Boris Johnson faces a tough challenge with a group of ministers announcing their resignations in protest to the way the premier was handling government affairs.

According to the BBC, the resignations include education ministers Will Quince and Robin Walker, Treasury minister John Glen, and ministerial aides Laura Trott and Felicity Buchan amongst others.

This came a day after the resignations of Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid.

Johnson had been heavily pressured to resign last year after investigations revealed that the Prime Minister had violated coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown measures via holding illegal parties at 10 Downing Street in 2020 and 2021. — Agencies
