In a press statement issued Saturday, Al-Asoumi stressed the importance of this summit in strengthening Arab-US relations and opening new horizons of coordination and cooperation to address the security and economic challenges witnessed by the Arab region, preserve regional security and stability, and secure a better future for current and next generations.

Al-Asoumi expressed the Arab Parliament’s full support for all Arab and international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region, adding that holding the summit under the security and development theme reflects the delicate situation the region is going through and its urgent need to achieve security and stability, while at the same time pushing forward development efforts, especially in light of the current global economic crisis and its intertwined repercussions on the Arab countries.

The speaker praised the speeches delivered by leaders and representatives of Arab countries during this summit, which provided an accurate analysis of the crises and the challenges the region is facing.

He stressed that the summit's final statement included various pressing security and development issues, expressing the Arab Parliament's aspiration that the outcomes of the summit would contribute to the development of non-traditional solutions to the challenges facing the Arab region.

Al-Asoumi valued the tireless efforts of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed, deputy prime minister and minister of defense, for the success of the summit, which reflects the leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the Arab, regional and international levels.

Meanwhile, in Tripoli, Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity Abdel Hamid Dabaiba welcomed the final statement issued by the "Jeddah Security and Development Summit", which stressed the need to hold simultaneous parliamentary and presidential elections in Libya, as well as the exit of foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya, The Libyan News Agency reported Sunday quoting the PM’s statement on Twitter.

Dabaiba added, "Every day, the international position becomes clearer by rejecting a new transitional phase, and we commend the role of the United States and all friendly countries for their steadfast positions in supporting stability in our country."
