RIYADH — Security authorities in Saudi Arabia have thwarted an attempt to smuggle 2,250,000 amphetamine pills through Jeddah Islamic Port, according to the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC).
GDNC spokesman Major Mohammed Al-Nujaidi said the pills were found hidden in a shipment of mops and were seized in coordination with Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.
The recipient, a Syrian national residing in Riyadh, was apprehended and referred to the Public Prosecution, Al-Nujaidi said. — SPA
