Al-Jadaan commends Jakarta for setting up Epidemic Control Fund at G20 meet

BALI, Indonesia — Minister of Finance Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan and Minister of Health Fahd Bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel participated Saturday in the second joint meeting of the Ministers of Finance and Health of the Group of Twenty being held under the Indonesian presidency in Bali.

During the first session entitled “The New Financial Intermediation Fund for Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Epidemics”, Al-Jadaan reviewed Saudi Arabia's efforts to combat epidemics locally, regionally and internationally, including its efforts during its presidency of the Group of Twenty.

He commended the efforts made under the Indonesian presidency of the group to establish the Epidemic Control Fund, pointing to the importance of strengthening solidarity and coordination between the finance and health ministers in the G20 countries in order to address the various health crises.

During the second session titled “The Future Mission of the Joint Working Group between Health and Finance”, Al-Jalajel stressed the importance of strengthening the global capacity to prepare for and respond to pandemics affecting societies in all their categories, stressing the centrality of cooperation to strengthen health systems and global health financing.

Al-Jalajel also commended the role of the joint health and finance working group in identifying financing gaps and their proposed models for strengthening the global health structure.

He stressed the Kingdom's support to complete the work, especially with regard to health diagnosis and monitoring in coordination with the health working group to avoid duplication. — SPA
