Saudi Arabia condoles Egypt over Mansoura bus accident victims

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has expressed its deepest sadness and sorrow over the public transportation bus accident that occurred in Mansoura in Egypt, which resulted in the death and injury of several people.

In a statement published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kingdom offered its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the government and people of Egypt, and wished the injuries a speedy recovery.

The accident occurred due to the wrong overtaking and malfunctioning of the steering wheel. At least 19 people were killed, while 8 of the passengers were injured.

The bus that was loaded with passengers had fallen into one of the canals on the Mit Gham-Mansoura Road, and rescue operation was carried out with 18 ambulances in attendance.

The Egyptian Public Prosecution has ordered the imprisonment of the bus driver, who caused the death of the passengers by drowning.
