RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP), in cooperation with the Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency, hosted a workshop to explore collaboration opportunities across trade, investment, tourism, ports, renewable energy, and the environment.

MEP was represented by Deputy Minister for International Economic Affairs Bandar Alkhamies; Deputy Minister for Strategic Planning and Organizational Excellence, Feras Sheraiff; and Deputy Minister for Sectorial and Regional Development Affairs Farah Ismail. They were joined by the President of Portugal's Trade and Investment Agency, Luis Filipe de Castro Henriques.

The workshop included a discussion on bilateral investment opportunities and opportunities to enhance knowledge transfer. It also provided a chance to learn about the Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency’s experience in some of the Kingdom's key economic sectors.

To support Saudi Arabia's national diversification drive, the workshop focused on promoting investment opportunities available to Portuguese businesses, particularly in energy, ports, and tourism.

From the Saudi side, a number of government entities participated, including the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Investment, Public Investment Fund, Saudi Center for International Strategic Partnerships, General Authority for Foreign Trade, Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, Saudi Exports Development Authority, and Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority.

The Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency is tasked with promoting exports and investments in the Portuguese Republic, driving economic and investment opportunities around the world, and developing a competitive business climate.

Through this cooperation, MEP aims to highlight the strategic opportunities that enable growth and economic diversification through regional and international participation to promote the Kingdom's economic and investment opportunities that help to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. — SPA
