Weather forecast: Heavy rain expected in Makkah, snow to fall on northern regions

JEDDAH — The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) raised the rain alert to warning Jeddah, Rabigh and Al-Kamil.

It also alerted Makkah resident of heavy rain starting from Sunday’s evening. The warning will remain active until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, according the center.

The center confirmed that the forecast indicates a continuation of the rainy situation with moderate to heavy rains accompanied by activity in surface winds, high waves, hail, torrential rains, and low visibility.

The CEO of the Center Dr. Ayman Ghulam said that the forecast expects that heavy rain will fall from Sunday evening on Jeddah, Thuwal, Rabigh, Al-Kamil, the Holy Capital, Taif, Al-Hada, Al-Shifa, Al-Shuaiba and Al-Laith.

“This heavy rain extends over the Madinah region and its provinces, including the coasts, and then extends east to the regions of Riyadh, Hail, Qassim, the eastern, northeastern and northern regions, including the Al-Jouf region and the Northern Border Region,” he said.

“Heavy snow will fall on the northern regions of Saudi Arabia, and thick fog will form in the early Monday morning hours,” he added.
