RIYADH — The Culinary Arts Commission has launched the National and Regional Dishes Narratives Initiative in an effort to enhance the presence of the Saudi culinary heritage both locally and globally.
The commission also announced the selection of “Jareesh” as the Saudi national dish and “Maqshush” as the Saudi national dessert.
These two national dishes, Jareesh and Maqshush, tell a unique story that is rooted in our ancient history and the authenticity of our heritage.
The National and Regional Dishes Narratives Initiative is a component of the Culinary Arts Commission’s efforts to advance Saudi culture in accordance with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 within its cultural, social, and development aspects.
One of the initiative’s goals, which covers all thirteen regions of the Kingdom, is to invest in the symbolic significance of the Saudi-selected dishes.
The initiative aims to highlight the selected foods, document their recipes, and export them through competitive programs and incentives to invest in the ingredients of the Saudi dish. — SPA
