PARIS — The UNESCO international community adopted the proposal by Saudi Arabia to host the 45th Extended Session of the World Heritage Committee.

The Kingdom will host the 45th session of UNESCO's World Heritage Committee in September 2023.

A dedicated UNESCO member state since the very beginning, this decisive move is an opportunity for the Kingdom to further promote the protection, promotion and preservation of cultural heritage, Saudi mission to the UNESCO said on Twitter.

Riyadh, home to the iconic World Heritage site — the At-Turaif District— will host the meetings which represents a chance to bring the global community closer together while exploring Saudi Arabia’s vibrant heritage.

From millennial desert monuments to lush oases and silk weaving, the Kingdom's jewels include 6 World Heritage Sites and 11 Intangible Cultural Heritage elements. — SG
