RIYADH — Public sector employees will be enjoying two days holiday this year on the occasion of the Saudi Founding Day celebrations, which will be on the Feb. 22 and 23.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) has confirmed that Feb. 22 is an official holiday for the Saudi Founding Day celebrations for all the public, private and non-profit sectors.
SPA also indicated that the Thursday, Feb 23, following the Founding Day is a holiday for those included in the provisions of the executive regulations for human resources in the civil service, this is in accordance with Article 128 of the same regulations.
It is worth mentioning that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman issued a royal decree in February 2022 that Feb. 22 will be an official holiday in the country every year on the occasion of the Founding Day.
The Kingdom will celebrate the Founding Day for the second time this year, after the Cabinet adopted the day to commemorate the country’s founding in 1727 by Imam Mohammed Bin Saud.
The official National Day is still on Sept. 23, and it signifies the unification day of all Saudi Arabia’s regions under King Abdulaziz. The nation’s Founding Day is a new event to commemorate the deep historical roots of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
