RIYADH — Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid Bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, who is also chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Foreign Trade, participated in the Bangladesh Business Summit 2023 while on an official visit to Dhaka; the summit was held on March 10-11.
Al-Qasabi stressed at the meeting the fact that Bangladesh is an important trading partner of the Kingdom, and that this visit was organized to boost the partnership between the two countries.
He called on Saudi businessmen to build a strong relationship with their Bangladeshi counterparts and explore multiple investment opportunities.
The minister held meetings with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed, Minister of Commerce Tipu Munshi, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Abdul Kalam Abdul Momen.
He also met Bangladeshi Prime Minister’s Adviser on Trade, Industry and Investment to the Private Sector Salman Fazlur Rahman, Minister of Justice Anisul Huq, Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Palak, Minister of Energy Nasrul Hamid, and President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Mohammed Jashim Uddin.
Four agreements worth SR6.3 billion were signed in the energy, industry, agriculture and infrastructure fields.
The Saudi-Bangladeshi Business Forum was held on the sidelines of the visit; taking part in it were 20 Saudi and 60 Bangladeshi companies.
The forum explored venues for cooperation and partnerships, and ways to stimulate private-sector investment in the two countries. — SPA
