RIYADH —The Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation (SCOT) has revealed that organs harvested from six brain-dead people contributed to saving the lives of 13 citizens suffering from organ failure.

SCOT teams performed kidney transplant surgeries on five patients suffering from hepatic failure, in addition to three lung transplants for citizens who had pulmonary insufficiency.

Director General of the SCOT Talal Al-Qoufi said SCOT teams received consent from relatives of the six brain-dead people to harvest their organs for transplantation.

Al-Qoufi confirmed that the process of distributing organs was carried out in accordance with medical ethics in a manner that guarantees fair distribution according to medical priorities. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the deceased's family members.
