RIYADH — Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Sheikh Walid Al-Samaani urged judges to issue verdicts after deep thought and utmost carefulness. The minister called on them to consider public interests while pronouncing judgments.

During his meeting with the newly appointed judges, Al-Samaani thanked for the support and keenness on the part of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the Kingdom’s judiciary. He underscored the necessity of adopting regulations and decisions with depth, deliberation, awareness and consideration of public interests.

The minister urged the new judges to approach the judiciary with a calm spirit, and deep thought and careful insight into the issues. He stressed the need to familiarize themselves with the regulations and read them carefully, especially the newly enacted Law of Evidence, Civil Status Law and Civil Transactions Law.

Al-Samaani emphasized the importance of knowing wisdom and the purpose of enacting procedures to apply them in the best possible way, saying this facilitates prompt delivery of justice and preserves the rights of all parties involved in the case. He stressed that the institutional judiciary is not an option, but rather a path that must be followed. “This does not mean the abolition of the role of the judge. Rather, the greatest role remains for the judge, and the responsibility for him is higher,” he added.
