AMMAN — The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced the visit of Saudi Ambassador-designate Naif Al-Sudairi to the State of Palestine on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 26 and 27. Al-Sudairi, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Jordan, has recently been appointed non-resident ambassador and consul general to Palestine.

The ministry described the envoy’s visit as a historic milestone in the development of fraternal relations between Saudi Arabia and Palestine. In a statement on its official X account, the ministry welcomed the visit of Al-Sudairi, saying that the visit will be an important historical milestone for strengthening and developing bilateral relations between the two countries and opening more horizons for mutual cooperation in all fields.

This is the first visit by a senior Saudi official to the Palestinian territories, since Saudi Arabia announced its appointment of Al-Sudairi as a non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the State of Palestine and Consul General in the city of Jerusalem.

Earlier, Al-Sudairi said: “This step is important and has great implications for the keenness of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to strengthen relations with the brothers in the State of Palestine. “This step has implications that benefit the Palestinians in organizing relations and giving them an official impetus in all fields, whether political, economic or social. We look forward to a promising future for these relations and for them to be as they were and better,” he added.

Al-Sudairi will present his credentials to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, according to Majdi Al-Khalidi, advisor of the Palestine President for diplomatic affairs. He said that an official ceremony will be arranged for the same.

Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh welcomed Saudi Arabia’s decision to appoint Al-Sudairi as non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary to the Palestinian Territories and Consul General in the city of Jerusalem. “This step carries important political meanings and implications, in the face of the occupation’s measures,” he said during the Palestinian government session in the city of Ramallah
