RIYADH — With just five days to go until the Riyadh 2023 Global Esports Games (GEG23), the Saudi Esports Federation (SEF) has revealed exciting tournament format details for the flagship multi-title competition.

Scheduled to run from December 12-16 and presented by the Global Esports Federation (GEF), this event promises five days of intense competition, showcasing the skills of over 250 elite competitors and representing more than 50 esports nations across various world-renowned titles such as Dota 2, eFootball™️ 2024, PUBG MOBILE, and Street Fighter 6.

Turki Al-Fawzan, CEO of the Saudi Esports Federation, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “The Riyadh 2023 Global Esports Games are going to be epic, and we’re sure today’s announcement will take the pre-event buzz to a whole new level. With glory, bragging rights, and huge prizes at stake, elimination tournaments featuring the world’s best teams and talent always captivate audiences. The stage is set for history to repeat itself in the Saudi capital, and we can’t wait for the action to begin on December 12.”

The GEG23 event is a convergence of esports, sports, technology, entertainment, culture, and the global gaming community. After a gripping qualifying series, where 104 countries and 1,165 players were narrowed down to 56 and 250+ for the finals, GEG23 is poised to take the esports world by storm.

The tournament kicks off on December 12 with the Dota 2 Open, featuring eight of the world’s best countries in a single elimination format, leading to the final on Friday, December 16. Simultaneously, Street Fighter 6, a gaming legend, commences with 33 countries engaging in a round-robin shootout.

On December 13, eFootball™️ 2024 enters the arena, with 31 countries vying for supremacy in a three-day tournament, culminating in a final on Friday, December 16. The same day marks the beginning of the Dota 2 Women tournament, mirroring the format of the Dota 2 Open.

PUBG MOBILE makes its debut on December 14, adding another layer of excitement to the event. The tournament concludes on Friday, December 15, following a point system format where teams strive to be the last one standing.

In addition, GEFcon, the exclusive thought-leadership esports event worldwide, is set for December 12. A global convention of thought leaders and idea creators, GEFcon will bring together minds from esports, sports, technology, business, academia, and other sectors to shape the future of esports.

Al-Fawzan concluded, “The Global Esports Games rank alongside a select few as the pinnacle of our industry. There’s therefore no stage better suited to bring esports leaders together and chart a new course towards its destiny. We’re looking forward to welcoming attendees and taking more monumental strides forward in esports’ unprecedented development.”
