RIYADH
— Deputy Foreign Minister Walid Al-Khuraiji reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's keen commitment to preserving the unity and territorial integrity of the republics of Somalia and Sudan. This commitment is seen as crucial to maintaining security, stability, and regional integration.

Al-Khuraiji made the remarks during his participation, on behalf of Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) summit held on Friday in Uganda.

In his speech, the Deputy Foreign Minister expressed Saudi Arabia's firm stance on supporting and enhancing Saudi-African relations. This stance solidifies its relationship with African nations and IGAD member states.

Al-Khuraiji emphasized Saudi Arabia's position on the Sudanese crisis, focusing on preserving Sudan's unity and territorial integrity, safeguarding state institutions, and protecting the resources of the Sudanese people. He praised Saudi Arabia's partnership with IGAD and the African Union concerning the current situation in Sudan.

He further clarified that implementing the Jeddah Declaration, a commitment to protecting civilians in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law and human rights, is the path to resolving the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
