MADINAH —
A marvel of modern engineering and traditional Islamic architecture coalesce at the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, following King Fahd's directive for expansion.

This project introduced 27 remarkable domes, a fusion of stunning design and technological innovation that captivates onlookers. Each dome, weighing an impressive 80 tons, is supported by square bases 18 meters wide, maneuvered by an extensive network of iron rails exceeding 1,573 meters in length, allowing them to slide open and close at predetermined times.

The domes' inner beauty is equally striking, with cedar wood interiors intricately arranged and decorated with geometric patterns and vibrant turquoise highlights. Externally, the domes exhibit exceptional craftsmanship, adorned with small hexagonal ceramic tiles 60 millimeters in diameter, creating a geometrically elegant mosaic in turquoise and light beige hues.

This engineering marvel is not just about aesthetics; it plays a crucial role in maintaining a pleasant and refreshing atmosphere inside the mosque by regulating temperature through the automated opening and closing of the domes, ensuring year-round comfort for worshippers.
