Saudi ESCO 2024 forum kicks off in Riyadh to promote energy efficiency

RIYADH
—The Saudi ESCO 2024 forum for energy efficiency service providers in the Kingdom was launched on Monday in Riyadh, with the aim of improving energy consumption in various commercial and industrial facilities.

The forum was held in the presence of Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Energy Efficiency Center “Kafa’a”, and several members of the Board of Directors.

At a press conference, Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SECC) Director General Nasser Al-Ghamdi said the center has ensured reliability in the sector by licensing energy service companies and maintaining service quality

He pointed out that the center also seeks to be an international reference in energy efficiency and a model for preserving natural resources to enhance sustainability and economic and social well-being by 2030.

In his speech at the opening session, CEO of the National Energy Efficiency Services Company (Tarsheed) Walid Al-Ghurairi highlighted the company’s efforts and contributions in supporting energy efficiency initiatives in Saudi Arabia.

He said: “Since 2017, we have contributed, in cooperation with the Center, to raising the number of companies operating in energy efficiency services to reach 55 companies are licensed in Saudi to date, including 41 local companies, in addition to joint efforts to attract 14 international companies, which have become an active partner within our work and projects in rehabilitation and raising energy efficiency in our programs that include the rehabilitation of buildings and public facilities.

He remarked that all of these efforts It resulted in an estimated saving of approximately 7 terawatt-hours until the end of the first quarter of 2024.

The forum targeted energy efficiency service providers licensed in Saudi, universities, training centers, and specialized engineers interested in this field. In addition to the owners of commercial establishments such as commercial complexes, hospitals, medical facilities, private schools, hotels, tourist accommodation facilities, and others.
