RIYADH — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said that the ongoing violence and bloodshed in Gaza serve as a stark reminder of the human cost of conflict.
He made his remarks during his participation via video conferencing in the 14th Gulf Research Meeting 2024 in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
Prince Faisal delivered a speech in which he stressed the importance of strengthening the existing international system to serve as a bulwark against chaos and conflict and to provide a framework for cooperation and peaceful coexistence among nations as we witness growing threats. He also reaffirmed the importance of commitment to upholding the principles of international law, mutual respect, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
Prince Faisal mentioned that the specter of conflict looms large, casting a dark shadow over aspirations of prosperity and progress. He emphasized the importance of exercising restraint, wisdom, and foresight in all actions. He also noted the Kingdom’s role in supporting stability and enhancing cooperation and its efforts to build bridges of understanding and solidarity that transcend boundaries and divisions. He added that such actions aim to foster a conducive environment for innovation and prosperity for all the people of the region and the world.
The Foreign Minister stressed the urgent need to find a pathway to the establishment of a viable and sovereign Palestinian state. He added that there is an urgent need for a durable solution that upholds the rights and dignity of all parties involved.
Prince Faisal also renewed the Kingdom’s call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the commitment to dialogue and negotiation guided by the principles of justice, equality, and mutual respect.
