Supporters already know the truth and need no convincing—they are fully aware of the misleading nature of false allegations, just as Saudi citizens and residents witness the nation’s remarkable progress daily. Critics, on the other hand, are uninterested in truth; they ignore achievements, no matter how evident or impactful, as their goal is to sow doubt and stir controversy, not to seek truth.

The letter sent by U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Dick Durbin to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, calling for Saudi Arabia to be barred from hosting the 2034 World Cup, is rife with glaring contradictions. Its timing is especially suspicious, arriving on the heels of the Democratic Party’s significant electoral losses. This move seems to be an attempt to distract from internal crises by focusing on external issues. But the crucial question is this: Why was this so-called “concern” not raised during the Democratic Party’s four years in power, when there was ample opportunity to address such matters directly?

Saudi Arabia is currently undergoing an unprecedented historical transformation, confidently building its future through Vision 2030. This vision reflects the nation’s determination to achieve sustainable, comprehensive development that respects human rights and aligns with international standards. Among the most notable reforms is the abolition of the sponsorship system, replaced by policies that promote freedom and provide legal protection for expatriate workers. Mechanisms have been established to ensure workers receive their rights in full and on time. These measures have received international acclaim and affirm Saudi Arabia’s seriousness in effecting change.

Saudi women are now an integral part of the workforce as well as legislative and executive bodies, embodying a vision that values equality and inclusivity. Moreover, Saudi Arabia has strengthened its legal infrastructure to align with international standards, reflecting its deep commitment to global responsibilities.

But the real question remains: Why did the senators choose this moment to raise such allegations? Over the past four years, when the Democratic Party held power, there was no genuine effort to engage Saudi Arabia on these issues, despite the Kingdom’s transparent implementation of these reforms. This campaign appears less concerned with human rights and more intent on obstructing Saudi Arabia’s international ascent.

Saudi Arabia views hosting the 2034 World Cup as an opportunity to showcase its modern systems and future development. The Kingdom is not merely aiming to host a global sporting event but seeks to use sports as a platform to foster mutual understanding between nations and build bridges of cultural and civilizational cooperation. Its success in hosting major events like Formula 1, tennis, and boxing championships has demonstrated its ability to organize events to the highest international standards.
