JEDDAH — Al-Ahli's board of directors has announced that CEO Ron Gourlay has decided not to renew his contract, with his tenure set to conclude in April 2025.
Gourlay will continue in his role until then to ensure a smooth administrative transition that supports the club’s stability and ambitious trajectory.
The board expressed deep appreciation for Gourlay’s contributions during his tenure, highlighting his role in strengthening the club's administrative, operational, and financial structure.
His leadership was instrumental in implementing a long-term sustainability and competitiveness strategy at both the domestic and continental levels.
Among his key achievements was advancing the club’s new facility project, which is set to provide a world-class environment to support the team’s success.
In a statement released by the club, Gourlay praised Saudi Arabia’s exceptional sports project and expressed pride in being part of Al-Ahli’s journey.
"Saudi Arabia has an extraordinary sporting vision, and I am proud to have been part of Al-Ahli’s journey as one of the biggest clubs in Asia. I strongly believe the work we have done will soon bear fruit," Gourlay said.
"I would like to thank Al-Ahli Club Company and the Public Investment Fund for supporting the club’s ambitious vision. I also appreciate the exceptional collaboration with the board, staff, players, and the loyal fans who have shown incredible dedication and support for this historic institution."
He emphasized his understanding of fans' passion and desire for success, noting that every decision made during his tenure was driven by the club's best interests and the goal of building a strong and sustainable foundation.
"Change takes time, but I am confident that the efforts we have made will soon pay off, ensuring Al-Ahli's position at the top for years to come," Gourlay added.

Al-Ahli’s board reaffirmed its commitment to building on Gourlay’s achievements and further strengthening the club’s standing on both domestic and continental stages.
