NEW YORK — The 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) at the United Nations began on Monday under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia and will continue until March 21.

The Kingdom is represented by its Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, alongside a high-level delegation led by the Family Affairs Council, represented by its Secretary-General, Dr. Maimouna Al-Khalil.

As part of its chairmanship, Saudi Arabia will highlight the importance of strengthening international cooperation to support women's empowerment policies and finding practical solutions to the challenges they face.

The Kingdom is also showcasing its experiences and groundbreaking initiatives that have contributed to establishing Saudi women as key contributors to national development.

Dr. Maimouna Al-Khalil emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s selection to chair the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women reflects the significant progress achieved in empowering Saudi women.

She affirmed that women in the Kingdom enjoy the full support of the leadership, which has enabled them to achieve successive successes in all sectors.

Saudi Arabia’s leadership of this session underscores its pioneering role in supporting and empowering women at the regional and international levels.

It reflects a continuous journey of efforts and achievements aimed at enhancing women's status and active participation across various fields, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
