Makkah region receives highest rainfall among Saudi regions

MAKKAH — Sarar in the Taif governorate in the Makkah region recorded the highest rainfall at 64 mm, among 10 regions that witnessed rain on Friday.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture stated in its report on rainfall across all regions of the Kingdom that 129 hydrological and climatic monitoring stations recorded rainfall over the past 24 hours in the regions of Riyadh, Makkah, Qassim, the Eastern Province, Asir, Hail, Jazan, Najran, Al-Baha, and Al-Jouf.

According to the report, other localities that received high level of rainfall in the Makkah region included Al-Hada Park in Taif 42.8 mm, Madrakah in Al-Jamum 40.4 mm, Al-Shafa in Taif 27.3 mm, King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah 24 mm, Al-Sudairah in Taif 23 mm, Al-Marqaban in Adham, and Bani Saad in Maysan 20.4 mm.

The report indicated that the Asir region recorded 29.4 mm in Tamniyah in Abha, 27.2 mm in Al-Sha'af in Abha, 19.56 mm in Bisha, 19 mm in Mehr in Bisha, 18.1 mm in Bani Amr in Al-Namas, and 18 mm in Al-Usran in Sarat Ubaid. Al-Dair in the Jazan region recorded 23.7 mm, Al-Jabal Al-Aswad in Al-Rayth 4.9 mm, Baysh 4.8 mm, and Baysh Dam in Baysh 2.79 mm.

The report indicated that monitoring stations in Al-Baha recorded 11.8 mm in Al Baha city, 3.5 mm in Barharah in Al-Mandaq, 2.1 mm in Bani Hassan in Al Mandaq, and 2 mm in Qalwa. The Eastern Province recorded 6 mm at Umm Al Shafallah train station in Al-Qarya Al-Ulya, 4.4 mm in Al Rafia in Al-Qarya Al-Ulya, and 2.6 mm in Al Shihiyah in Al-Qarya Al-Ulya.

Riyadh recorded 4 mm in Kharoub farms in Shaqra, 3.6 mm in Diriyah, 2.9 mm at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and 2.6 mm at Al-Thumama Airport in Riyadh. The report showed that the Habona station in the Najran region recorded 4.2 mm, Al-Namsa in Badr Al-Janub 3.6 mm, Badr Al-Janub 2.7 mm, and Hama Bathar 1.4 mm. Al-Shanan in Hail recorded 3.0 mm, Al-Hamad in Al-Qurayyat in the Al-Jouf region 1.4 mm, and Fawara in Buraidah in Al-Qassim 2.4 mm.
