RIYADH — The General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued a public advisory urging citizens and residents to exercise caution around swimming pools at homes and public venues, particularly to prevent accidents involving children and individuals who cannot swim.
In its statement, the directorate emphasized the need to follow safety instructions and official guidelines shared across media and social platforms to safeguard lives and prevent incidents during the warmer months.
Authorities stressed the importance of keeping children away from pools unless under close supervision and recommended installing safety features such as fences to prevent unauthorized access.
The Civil Defense also highlighted the need for life-saving equipment such as life rings and non-slip surfaces around pool edges to minimize the risk of slipping and drowning.
Additional precautions advised include placing ladders in pool corners to ensure safe entry and exit, and installing alarm systems to detect any unexpected objects or individuals falling into the water.
The directorate reiterated that public safety is a shared responsibility and urged all pool owners and operators to take necessary preventive measures to avoid tragic accidents.
