KUWAIT — Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Dr. Thomas Bach, IOC President-Elect Kirsty Coventry, and Saudi Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal at the Bayan Palace in Kuwait on Sunday. The meeting was also attended by Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The meeting took place during Kuwait's hosting of the 37th meeting of the presidents of Olympic committees in the GCC countries and the 45th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia. The discussions focused on the relationship between the Olympic family in Asia, particularly the Gulf countries, and the IOC, with the upcoming presidency transition to former Olympic champion Kirsty Coventry, scheduled for June 23, 2025.
