Mobile service pods launched on Hijrah Expressway to aid stranded pilgrims

June 04, 2025

MAKKAH — Saudi Arabia’s Roads General Authority has launched a network of mobile service pods along the Hijrah Expressway between Makkah and Madinah, designed to assist pilgrims whose buses encounter mechanical issues during their journey.

The initiative, inaugurated by Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser, aims to provide immediate comfort and relief to pilgrims left stranded on the 400-kilometer route—especially during the intense summer heat.

Each mobile pod is equipped to accommodate up to 40 pilgrims and is fitted with air conditioning, seating areas, restrooms, and facilities to serve cold drinks and meals.

The units operate 24 hours a day throughout the Hajj season and are stationed at key points along the expressway. — SG
