NEW YORK — Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Abdulaziz Alwasil reaffirmed the Kingdom's unwavering support for Afghanistan’s security and stability.

Addressing a UN General Assembly session on the situation in Afghanistan, Alwasil emphasized the importance of respecting Afghanistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He expressed the Kingdom's concern over the humanitarian and economic challenges facing the Afghan people.

Alwasil called for intensified international efforts to provide urgent relief and essential support to ease the suffering of the Afghan people. He highlighted the Kingdom’s humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), underscoring the vital role of empowering Afghan women by promoting their rights in education, employment, and public life.

Alwasil also emphasized the critical need to prevent Afghan territory from being used as a base for terrorist activities or drug trafficking. He warned of the threats these pose to regional and global security. The Saudi envoy reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to continuing its support for political, humanitarian, and development initiatives aimed at stabilizing Afghanistan.
