RIYADH — Naval forces from the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen carried out a military operation in Yemen’s Hodeidah province, destroying Houthi military targets and thwarting planned attacks on waterways in the southern Red Sea, coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said Monday.

Al-Maliki said the operation destroyed a legitimate military targets belonging to the Houthis, including weapons storage facilities, depots housing explosive-laden boats and naval mines.

He said the operation also thwarted a Houthi plan to carry out imminent attacks targeting waterways in the southern Red Sea.

Al-Maliki said the operation was conducted as part of the coalition’s efforts to protect maritime navigation and security in the Bab Al-Mandab Strait.

Later, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen destroyed a ballistic missile launcher in the Yemeni capital Sanaa and a missile storage facility containing 20 ballistic missiles in Saada.

Al-Maliki said the ballistic missile stockpile was stored inside a military site located in a mountainous area of Saada.
