Zamil Air Conditioners (ZAC), a subsidiary of Zamil Industrial Investment Co., was recently selected to participate in the measurement of the quality of the education provided by technical colleges in Saudi Arabia by the Quality Measurement Committee of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC).
Nasser bin Abdullah Al-Howaimel, quality agent at the Dammam College of Technology, and Stephen Brown, a British expert in educational quality from the Saudi Skills Standards in Riyadh, visited Zamil Air Conditioners factory in Dammam Second Industrial City. During the visit, they met with many of the 155 recent graduates of the Dammam College of Technology who are now working as qualified Saudi technicians and who were recruited in collaboration with the College.
These technicians hold diplomas in a number of specialties, including industrial machinery operating, refrigeration and air conditioning technology, and general mechanics and electricity.
During a conference with factory officials and representatives of the HR department, they also discussed ways to improve educational outcomes and raise the level of overall satisfaction with the performance of graduates.
TVTC currently seeks to measure the quality of technical colleges in Saudi Arabia and the training they deliver, as well as to gauge the satisfaction of private sector companies that employ the graduates. It also seeks to gather industrial input on curriculum development and to discover new ways to support and add to the expertise of teaching staff within the organization.
Al-Howaimel honored the organizers of the Saudization and job localization programs on behalf of the dean of Dammam College of Technology Ahmed A. Al-Thunayan, for their active participation and cooperation in continuing to support cooperative training programs and advance the employment of the graduates of technical college programs.
Zamil Industrial recently entered into a cooperation agreement with the Dammam College of Technology for recruitment of a number of graduates holding diplomas in the technical specialties required to fulfill the company’s requirements for a trained and qualified national workforce with expertise in a variety of technical and vocational disciplines. — SG
