JEDDAH – Bupa Arabia, the first company specialized in health insurance in the Kingdom, has signed the final orphan cover agreement for the year 2013, by which it will conclude providing free health insurance services to orphans living in orphanages under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Affairs across KSA.
During a special ceremony, attended by a number of media representatives, Eng. Loay Nazer, Chairman of Bupa Arabia, expressed his happiness regarding the full execution of the company’s plans to provide free insurance for this segment of orphans, stating “Two years ago we made a commitment to ourselves and to our community that Bupa Arabia will be a leader in community service and will demonstrate its responsibility to those who need our support and our attention. Tod ay, I am proud to say that we have fulfilled this commitment by providing all of the 3000 orphans in Saudi Arabia who are living in orphanages under the umbrella of the Ministry of Social Affairs with free health insurance coverage.”
Loay said: “I want to extend my sincere thanks to the all Bupa Arabia employees who have stood behind this program and made our dream a reality. Also not to forget the valuable contribution of the Ministry of Social Affair and the leading hospitals that helped making this wonderful program a huge success. Last but not least, a special thanks to all our members, if they weren’t part of our customer base, we wouldn’t have been able to set a budget from our profit to support this program. This is truly one of my proudest moments in my professional and personal life.”
Loay and CSR committee members presented success stories about orphans’ health improvement, health activities with orphans in addition to sharing the results achieved in this program since its inception.
At conclusion, the company also recognized healthcare providers that cooperated with Bupa and had an important role in making this ambitious project a success.
The last signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Social Affairs office in Riyadh, where the agreements were signed by Eng. Loay Nazer, Chairman of Bupa Arabia, and the Vice Minister Dr. Abdullah Al Yousif.
With the signing of these agreements, Bupa Arabia have enrolled the last batch of 1108 orphans located in Riyadh, Ha’il, Tabuk, Dammam, Al Ahsa, Al Atawla, Unaizah, Buraidah and Al Shagra bringing the total number orphans currently enrolled in the program to 3000.
The previous signings have covered orphans living in Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Makkah, Madinah, Jazan, Abha and Taif.
The product provided to the orphans was designed and tailored to suit their need. Orphans are assigned one provider of their choice that is close to their location. The provider chosen is verified and approved by Bupa Arabia based on the quality of the medical services provided and the ability to cover all medical conditions that exist in that orphanage. Orphans are granted some special coverage to some treatments that are usually not included in insurance policies. – SG
such as some dental treatment (crown services), some dermatological treatments that are considered cosmetical, and other similar services too.
Bupa Arabia also arranges qualified teams of doctors and nurses through its vast network, to conduct on-site full medical examination for orphans in order to determine existing health problems and urgent cases, needing special follow up and immediate attention.
The medical team reviews the medical examination results, and produces a list of recommendations for the orphan patients. close follow up calls and meetings take place by Bupa’s Doctors in order to make sure that orphans take their health treatments seriously and take care of themselves. In addition, the medical team provides 24/7, second opinion referrals for orphans inside and outside their networks whenever needed. Orphans have specially designed membership cards and a dedicated helpline for easy communication and better care. Currently, Orphans who are benefiting from Bupa’s free health insurance are aged between 0-49 years old for females and 0-25 years old for males distributed on 46 orphanages that are located in 14 different cities.
“We will not stop here” Loay said “now that this phase is completed, we want to touch more lives and benefit more orphans, through targeting the next segment of orphans “living with families”. Next year in 2014, we plan to start covering the 7,000 orphans hosted by families across the Kingdom to ensure they receive the best healthcare services at the Kingdom’s best hospitals and medical centers.” — SG
