JEDDAH –  DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, opened the doors to its largest ground operations facility in the Middle East and North Africa. DHL’s latest SR100 million investment in the future of the logistics industry in the MENA region will help further consolidate and enhance the global connectivity of the Middle East region for at least the next 20 years.



The opening ceremony was attended by Nour Suliman, CEO of DHL Express MENA and other prominent members of the regional business community, DHL customers and the Chief Executive Officer of Meydan Group LLC.

Located in the Meydan Racecourse district in Dubai, this ambitious investment will also endure DHL’s continued growth and innovation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the wider region resulting in even better transit times and network reliability.



Along with DHL partner MGE Middle East General Enterprise L.L.C, the new facility will serve to enhance DHL’s competitive logistical performance due to its strategic location between Dubai Airport and Dubai World Central, state-of-the-art features and technological capabilities and best in class handling processes all within one new modern and iconic facility.



Spanning across an area of 186,000 square feet which is equivalent to 2.5 football pitches, some features of new facility include an almost 100,000 square foot indoor sorting and loading area, approximately 50,000 square foot office which will also serve as DHL’s new head office for the UAE, an indoor loading for up to 120 courier vans, giving more security to customer’s shipments, without exposure to sun or even rain, over 100 CCTV cameras keeping track of every shipment across the facility filming three months’ worth of footage in just one day, a conveyor belt that can automatically weigh, measure and photograph up to 72,000 shipments a day and lastly, the conveyor and sorting belt extends to over 2 floors up to 300m.
